BIJDENDIJK'S APPROACH
BIJDENDIJK'S APPROACH TO SUSTAINABLE COFFEE (EUDR)
The goals of the EUDR regulation align closely with Bijdendijk’s commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of coffee production. From January 1, 2025, we will exclusively offer EUDR-compliant coffee to our customers in the EU, with the option to provide it to customers in Switzerland and other non-EU countries upon request. We are dedicated to ensure that your green coffee beans are complimented with all relevant EUDR documentation.
Tracking & Mapping Origing Production Areas
Before importing our coffee into Europe, we ensure that we cross check the geolocations for the land plots where the coffee is produced. For farms larger than 4 hectares, we collect polygon data, and for those smaller than 4 hectares, we obtain geolocation points. For coffee shipped outside Europe, it will not be labeled as EUDR-compliant and will not include geolocations or deforestation data. However, upon request, we can provide EUDR-compliant coffee to non-EU customers.
Deforestation Assessments
To ensure that coffee sold within the EU does not contribute to deforestation, Bijdendijk collaborates with Osapiens. This system identifies areas where forest has been converted to coffee farming since 2020. We systematically evaluate the production locations of our coffee using this technology to meet compliance.
Risk Assessment
As part of our corporate due diligence, we conduct an annual evaluation of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks across our supply chain. This includes measures to mitigate potential risks related to deforestation and ecosystem degradation.
Collaboration
We value working closely with coffee producers, exporters, and stakeholders in producing countries. In the event of any deforestation concerns, we will carefully investigate and implement the most suitable support measures.”
